Bill WilsonMost of the work that I am doing now is with some wonderful shino glazes on porcelain and stoneware. These shino glazes are alive when you apply them to the pot. From the second the pot is glazed a crystal growth begins. I stop this crystal growth in some areas by laying plastic or wax over the glaze before it is dry. Then, during the firing the areas where the crystals have been allowed to develop capture carbons creating a different look. I apply a few different glazes and wood ash over the top of the shinos to add yet another dimension. I love the depth, life, and rich colors that this process has brought to my work. |
